June — Colours And Shapes
Term one phonics, A to F, meets the five shapes and the colours they are painted in. By Friday the child can sort a pile of objects two different ways — by colour and by shape — which is the beginning of real classifying. Learning outcomes: say the sounds of the letters a to f, name circle, square, triangle, rectangle and oval, find shapes in real objects around the house, sort the same set of objects in more than one way.
