Month 3 — Colors
Six colours, one a session, in the order that keeps them apart: red, blue, yellow and green first, then orange and purple, which are the two most often mixed up with the ones before them. Every session ends with a hunt for a real one somewhere in the room, because a colour known only on a screen is barely known at all. Learning outcomes: points at red, blue, yellow and green when they are named, finds something of a named colour in the room, says at least two colour words, puts things of the same colour together. Month 10 — Alphabet
The alphabet arrives as a song and as sounds, not as twenty-six things to know. The curriculum asks for A-Z recognition here; the school's own table puts that in Nursery, so this month sings the whole alphabet and works properly on three sounds — a, b and c — plus the words they open.
